The movie is Nora Ephron's melding of Julie Powell's "Julie and Julia" and Julia Child's "My Life in France." It opens nationwide on Aug. 7.
Slashfood caught up with stars Amy Adams and Meryl Streep at the after-party. Find out what Julia recipes they cooked to prepare for their roles and view some more photos from the premiere after the jump.
Adams, who plays blogger Julie Powell in the film, says she whipped up Julia's Choux de Bruxelles à la Milanaise aka Brussels sprouts browned with cheese (page 453). And then made them "about six times" more.
Streep, who steps into the 6-foot-2 role of Julia (Streep's actually shorter than this 5-foot-8 reporter), told Slashfood she made Julia's tarragon chicken. That's page 249, Poulet Poêlé à L'Estragon, for those who might want to try this at home.
Chefs from the John Dory and the Spotted Pig made dishes for the after-party, which was sweetened by cupcakes from Crumbs Bake Shop.
But the most satisfying site of all was all of Julia's nieces and nephews, who praised Streep's performance of their larger-than-life aunt.
