Library-Themed Ben & Jerry's Coming to a Freezer Near You?

Ben & Jerry's seems to be tops among many ice-cream eaters, but the feeling is particularly strong among the library-going set.

How else to explain the thousands strong Facebook lobby "People for a library-themed Ben & Jerry's flavor!"?

Created by New Jersey resident Andy Woodworth, the group wants a "tasty awesome" flavor that honors libraries.

"The Logic Behind This: (1) Libraries are awesome; (2) Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream is tasty; therefore: (3) A library-themed Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream would be tasty awesome," the site says. "Let's make it happen!"

Suggestions include "Li-Berry Pie," a blend of lime sherbet with raspberry sauce and pie crust crumbles; "Sh-sh-sh-Sherbet!" a Key lime or chocolate and vanilla combo; and the "Gooey Decimal System," dark fudge alphabet letters with caramel swirls in hazelnut ice cream.

Woodworth is also Twittering the movement. To suggest a flavor to Ben & Jerry's, click here, and be sure to share it with us in the comments below.

What do you think of honoring libraries through ice cream?

Where did you and your idiotic family ever get this information. Or are you some granola eating, tree hugging flatlander who knows nothing about Ben&Jerry's what-so-ever?!

First off, you're from Vt. and I am from NY- whose the tree hugger here? Get your facts straight before you start calling people names. It is a documented fact, the owners of Ben & Jerry's donated money to Wesley Clark's defense fund. Ben and Jerry's is evil. In 1981 a man named Wesley Clark shot and killed Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner in the back, then several times in the face. He did this in front of several witnesses, including his own brother. He was arrested while still holding the murder weapon in his hand and taken to the hospital to have a bullet, fired from Officer Faulkner's weapon, removed from his body. Despite 20 years of appeals, Wesley Clark (a.k.a. Mumia Abu Jamal) still sits on death row in Pennsylvania because 16 different judges have come to the shocking conclusion that he was indeed guilty and received a fair trial.

Ben Cohen, the "Ben" of "Ben and Jerry's", thinks otherwise. He not only signed his name to a petition calling for the release of "Mumia", but he made sure the words, "Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream" were right next to his name. Hey, it's a free country, you can support cop killers if you want, but the rest of us are free to refuse to purchase products from someone who not only supports a convicted cop killer, but made sure his company was noted as supporting a convicted cop killer.

Since corporate ethics are the buzzword these days, and rightfully so, perhaps a company that supports cop killers shouldn't be held in high esteem. That is merely my humble opinion. Maybe Osama Bin Laden can make some tasty ice cream too, but I wouldn't buy his product either.

I'm on a permanent sugar-free low-fat diet due to surgery, so I don't do Ben & Jerry's anyway, but others I know sometimes do. I'll pass this info on to them. Please respond to this comment here as well as on your original post, so I'll know where it is. There is no conceivable question as to this man's guilt, so why are people supporting him? Do you have any idea? I was enthusiastic about library ice cream, but I'm not enthusiastic about cop-killers.

You should come off of your high horse. Before you go jumping all over people get your facts straight. The WHITE police officer Daniel Faulkner threatened the BLACK man Mumia. Officer Faulkner shot Mumia for no reason. Officer Faulkner was not able to control himself in a situation that got out of hand. In fact Officer Faulkner was abusing his power of authority. The BLACK man shot a WHITE officer defending his life.
