Prepping Pierogies - Tip of the Day

Pierogies are one of the best pieces of Polish fare. But how should one cook them?

The secret behind perfect pierogi is a two-step process.

1. The Boil: Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil, add the fresh or frozen pierogies. Stir gently to avoid sticking. When they rise to the surface, cook for 4 minutes. By the end, they should have plumped a bit. Remove from water.

2. The Fry: Place the pierogies in a pan of sizzling butter and fried onions and cook to desired outcome -- anything from a light golden color to a deeper and crisp brown.

Voila! Perfect pierogies that can make a wonderful main or delicious side dish.
