Don't Forget Fresh Garlic - Tip of the Day

Summer may hold almost too many culinary treats to keep track of, but don't forget to indulge in fresh garlic.

Now, we're not talking about the difference between the heads available at the grocery store and the lesser jarred variety. We're referring to fresh, straight-from-the-farm garlic -- which is now in season.

The aroma is to die for, and cutting into these cloves reveals all-white perfection without that little dark and dried nubbin on the bottom to which we've all grown accustomed. As the Brockville Farmers' Market page explains, select for heads that are firm to the touch, and like all garlic, store in a cool, dark place.
