Burger King to Give Away Cheeseburger Coupons

Having a double cheeseburger your way will now only cost you a single.

Burger King confirmed Wednesday a plan to mail out $1 double cheeseburger coupons in August and September to nearly 80 million households nationwide. The move comes after franchisees vetoed a proposal to offer the double cheeseburger at that price on in-store menus.

Nation's Restaurant News reports that franchise owners rejected the original promotion to sell the double cheeseburger at $1 for four months -- and also later rejected a revised promotion plan to sell the $1 doubles for six weeks.

The franchise owners rejected the $1 promotion due to worries that another buck-priced sandwich could cause more customers to trade down from higher-priced items on the menu. Burger King already features a $1 Whopper Jr. sandwich.

"Burger King Corp. remains fully focused on its value offerings and delivering value for the money to its guests," Burger King told Slashfood. "As such, any product and menu options are always in development and under consideration."

Burger King will now offer the original plan of $1 double cheeseburgers but only through mailed-out coupons. The direct mail coupon book includes a $1 Double Cheeseburger offer as well as $50 in other coupons.

It's a little bit smaller than the double cheeseburger and has less cheese. As far as Burger King goes, I thought they were greedy f-ers for raising the price of their double cheeseburger over a dollar in the first place. I used to get two on my lunch break for $2. Now they are $2 apiece. Greedy a-holes. I quit buying fast food because they all rape the ish out of you on the price. Unless I've got a coupon with a hell of a bargain, I don't go. All the greedy corporations in this country can kiss my ass.

On every reciept if you do a survey as well you get a free Whopper or Original Chicken sandwich. You just have to at least buy a 1 fry and 1 drink so it comes to 2 dollors plus your counties tax. Still a huge savings considering a Whopper meal comes to 570 now that includes our taxes. Or a whopper sandwich alone comes to 354!! I remember the days as a kid going to BK with grandparents when the Whoopers had coupons for BOGO whoppers for 99cents!! Double Cheesburgers are originally 1.99 plus tax. I havnt heard of any 1 dollor offers yet but we shall see.

Ordered my lunch at the drive through window and was told that "we sell breakfast until 11;30. I said but it's 1135 now and response was "sorry, breakfast. Well, I just drove out with nothing. This was my lunch time and McDonalds was the closest place. So 3 or 4 miles away there was a Burger King. Have been going to Burger king eer since that incident.

But to each there own I personally am tired of BK just because I work there everyday and get free food. Blah!

I kid you not.. every single time I visit BK, they are "out" of half the things I order. I could understand if it only happened once every so often and wasn't always the same items but it happens EVERY.SINGLE.TIME and it's always the same items plus something new. Why is it on the menu if you NEVER have it!?

Oh and the onion rings used to be good but they are nasty now and WAY over salted.

BK is the LAST place we will go to get fast food. I'd take McDonald's or Carl's Jr. or Jack-In-the-Box over BK, anyday. At least they always have the food that is shown on their menu's.

You can keep your stupid coupon.

A whole wheat bun would revive the fast food burger business like nothing else I can think of. I like burgers but hate those soggy white buns. I could do without the gummy cheese goo ... so always ask them to skip it. How about some pickles and a wisp of lettuce too ....? That burger could be as tasty as a home cooked one. And I'd fork over more than a dollar too ....

Just thought you should know that for a limited time in the mid to late 90's Burger King had a sandwich that was just that. They were really trying to compete with McDonalds and they won me over with that move.

Carls Jr is the home of the hamburger..I would say jack is next in line. More of a variety..
