A little homemade fresh butter can make the world of difference in your cooking.

Yes, it's easy to head to the supermarket and pick up some regular blocks of butter. And for most applications, that will work just fine. But when it's time to slap a dollop on bread, mashed potatoes or corn on the cob -- the foods that feature that beloved substance -- have some fresh butter ready. Without changing any techniques or ingredients, foods will pop with a whole new realm of flavor.

When time permits, you can make your own, or pick it up at the store (gourmet food, cheese or charcuterie shops). Trust us, it's worth it!
