De-Stinking Your Jar for Re-Use - Tip of the Day

Pickles, spaghetti sauce ... there are tons of foods whose scent lingers in the jar well after a good cleaning. So how do you beat the stink?

As many Web sites and home cooks suggest, one of the easiest ways to get rid of bad smells is to crumple up some newspaper and let it rest inside the container for a few days. The paper should soak up all those unwanted odors and leave you with a fresh and primed storage vessel.

Bonus: The technique also works on plastic! So they can take back what they say about yesterday's news.
