DIY Brown Sugar - Tip of the Day

No brown sugar in the house, or the stuff you have is rock solid. What to do if you don't have time to deal?

Brown sugar pops up in a lot of recipes, but it can be quite a pain to keep on-hand, what with all the hardening and tricks needed to keep it soft and pliable. Luckily, there are alternatives. You could opt for a different flavor for your dish and use another sugar, like the tried and true white granulated. Or, you could do something even better -- make your own.

As Martha Stewart explains, you can make your own brown sugar by combining 1 cup of granulated sugar with a 1/4 cup of molasses. That's it!

Now wasn't that easy?
