Self-Rising Flour - Tip of the Day

Have a recipe that calls for self-rising flour? Don't run out to the grocery store; you can make it right at home!

self-rising flourSelf-rising flour is, simply, all-purpose flour that has had baking powder and salt added to it.

So, rather than buying it premade, you can make it yourself. It's a simple concoction: just combine a cup of flour, 1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder and a pinch of salt. Mix them well, and your flour will self-rise with the best of 'em!

If you don't run into recipes that call for self-rising flour very often, just make what you need. But if you do, whip up a big batch and store it for future use.
