Amp Up Your Veggies with Flavored Salt - Tip of the Day

When you're whipping up a quick meal, flavored salt goes a long way with minimal effort.

Locating up a variety of herbs and spices for a quick evening meal might be more labor than the home cook is up for at the end of a long day. Luckily, it's not necessary to sacrifice flavor when throwing together a quick dinner. Just add a little flavored salt.

Salts infused with flavor are hugely helpful in creating a speedy meal since they offer two perks in one: When administered smartly), it naturally amplifies a dish's flavors, while the added element -- smoke, garlic or even bacon -- adds a little extra something to the equation.

Spice up eggs with a quick sprinkle of hot chili salt (or "meat" them up with bacon salt), add smoky flavor with alderwood or hickory smoked salt, or try vanilla salt on fish dishes. Start small until you know how the seasonings match up. Our fave? Garlic salt. Just a sprinkle makes sauteed veggies shine.

Find flavored salt in specialty stores, online or make your own!

Then there's also bacon salt. Developed in Seattle, Bacon Salt is both kosher and vegan and comes in numerous flavors. While no, it's not quite as good as actual bacon, it is very tasty.

Yet more importantly, and unlike most seasonings in today's market, they're also 100 percent natural, free of chemicals, anti-caking agents, and preservatives.

For a unique range of artisan flavors made in Seattle, straight from the mouth of the salt-maker herself, take a peak:

Nicoise Olive, Coconut Garam Masala, Pineapple Cumin Chili, Almond Cardamom, and Chorizo, are just a few of the infusions.
