When a recipe calls for citrus juice, namely from lemons and limes, all you need is a fork and a small bowl. Normally, recipes do not call for enough juice to warrant use of a juicer.
Start off by slicing the fruit in half crosswise. Then, poke the flesh a few times with a fork. Stick the fork in the citrus and twist, just as you would with a reamer. Obviously, if you have a reamer, that works well also. Like the fork technique, the reamer releases the juice when pressed and rotated into the flesh of the fruit.
In short, there's no need to purchase a juicer or even a reamer when extracting citrus juice for most recipes. You can easily use a kitchen fork.
