Vinturi Wine Aerator - Changing the Way We Drink Wine

vinturi wine aeratorMost people know that when wine has a chance to breathe, it's an overall better experience. Yet, for numerous reasons, the majority of people don't do it. Whether it be a lack of a decanter or last minute company, the excuses pile up.

Here at AOL Food, we are big fans of instant gratification. We realize time is precious and it simply comes down to what makes life easier for us, without sacrificing quality and taste. So when Vinturi landed on my desk, my curiosity was sparked. Vinturi is designed to accelerate the traditional aeration process. Users simple hold the sleek accessory over a glass or decanter and pour the wine through it. The unique design creates an increase in the wine's velocity as it is poured, and at the same time, a decrease in its pressure. This pressure difference draws in air, which is mixed with wine, allowing the wine to breathe instantly.

Inventor and CEO, Rio Sabadicci, developed this unique product that "combines form and function to enable consumers to fully enjoy their wine from the very first sip and enhance the wine experience."

Of course this called for a taste test. I grabbed the cheapest bottle of wine I could find and my fellow editor and I headed to the kitchen with our wine glasses.

Our test results after the jump.

We first tasted the wine before using Vinturi; for the sake of this post, I will not expose the maker, but I was unable to drink it due to extremely sour tones. My co-worker was able to take it down, but with resistance. Then came the moment of truth. Would this product live up to all of its hype? Intrigued by the noise it makes as the wine passes through the aerator, my first sip was welcomed by a sigh of relief. Not only had this bottle of wine become drinkable, it was surprisingly pleasant. If I had been blind folded, I would have sworn it was a different bottle and brand altogether.

Finally, a product that does exactly what it claims to do! What makes this product even better? For the price of an average decanter, Vinturi sells for under $40 - perfect for gifts!

We paid $45 for ours, at a wine cellar, when tasting a merlot ... it actually bumped the quality of the regular priced bottle to that of a 'select' bottle - saving twice the price in the process! We are sold on this item - and are recommending it to all our wine luving friends!
