Tip of the Day - Add Flavor by Squeezing Citrus Fruits

Your meal is almost finished, and you're wondering what last minute ingredients you can add to give it that extra special flavor. Citrus juice, particularly from lemons and limes, goes a long way in many dishes.
A Lime

Squeezed lemons and limes taste delicious over fish, like salmon and tilapia. Besides adding flavor to fish, lemons and limes can enhance the taste of other meats and even fruits, such as apples. Recently, I tried fresh coconut with squeezed lime juice. Even better is that they prevent sliced apples from turning brown.

The simplest addition goes a long way. Take a simple glass of carbonated water and squeeze a lime over it to see just how easy you can transform a simple glass of water. Lemons and limes work well in many chicken dishes, in particular Jamaican jerk lime chicken. While in Mexico, I noticed that limes were often squeezed over different salsas, over roasted chicken, and a variety of drinks.

But how can you get the most juice out of a lime or lemon?
Simply microwave the lemon or lime for just 15 seconds. You can also leave it submerged in hot water for 15 minutes before squeezing it.
