While in college, one of my friends had a gorgeous wooding cutting board that was unfortunately left to rot in a sink full of water over night. Unlike, plastic cutting boards, wooden ones should never be left immersed in water. So, what's the best way to wash it?
Firstly, you should wipe down the board with a sponge and hot soapy water immediately after use. And, dry it with a wash cloth. Remove minor stains by applying table salt on the affected area and rubbing it with a lemon wedge. From experience, this works best when dealt with immediately after use.
For tougher stains, you should use fine sandpaper. Make sure that you rub along the grain of the wood.
