Tip of the Day: Remove Wine Stains with Salt

Wine stains are a big pain! However, there is no reason it should put a damper on the rest of your meal. Follow these quick and easy instructions to remove wine stains with salt.

Wine Spillage
You are at a restaurant and you or someone who you're with accidentally spills wine on your brand new shirt. Stay calm (no yelling or screaming) and ask your waiter for salt and seltzer. Apply the salt to the stain with just a small amount of seltzer. Blot with a towel. The salt significantly helps to prevent the stain from getting worse, and it can also entirely remove the wine. It absorbs the wine.

When you get home, apply a small amount of oxygen bleach (it won't harm colors) on the stain. Rub gently, and then blot. If the stain is still pink, you can use club soda and diluted white vinegar to fade the stain. You can also apply shaving foam - rub gently, and then blot.

Main Items You'll Need:
  1. Salt
  2. Club Soda
  3. Towel
  4. Perhaps, Bleach and White Vinegar
