It's more than time for the end to Girl Scout cookie sales. It's a boondoggle that benefits manufacturers and a bloated organization. Cookie sales have never delivered much in the way of benefits to the girls. But they have been a huge headache for overburdened volunteers and an exploitation of the girls.
Let troops come up with their own fundraising plans that engage the girls and give them the opportunity to plan, execute and learn as well as reap the actual rewards for their efforts. And let the public and Girl Scouts, for that matter, buy cookies, if that's what they want to do, at realistic prices. OR go look for those cheater recipes and make cookies with more wholesome ingredients at a fraction of the price.
