Thanksgiving Eve is an oft overlooked holiday. In recent years, its stock has been rising as one of the top drinking days of the year. When else do so many friends and family members converge with nothing to do the next day but lie around waiting to gorge on hangover friendly foods? (Assuming you're not the one doing all of the cooking!)For college students especially, Thanksgiving Eve is typically your first time home since starting school, meaning it's your first time to catch up with old friends. As is often the case, maybe you've picked up a new found fascination with beer and are looking for ways to impress your former high school soccer teammate whose fancy private university anecdotes are really just self-congratulatory.
After the jump, find 8 phrases you can slip into conversation that are guaranteed to make you feel like a beer stud (with handy links if your friends are incessantly inquisitive and you want to do your homework).
- "Sure they have 12 beers on tap, but there's not a single interesting selection in the bunch."
- "I don't need to do a summer abroad in Brussels; Some of the best Belgian-style ales are being made right here in the United States."
- "None of these selections are hoppy enough for me: I might as well drink a cider!"
- "I think the InBev acquisition will actually be good for Anheuser-Busch. Maybe those Europeans will finally add some quality control over there!" (laugh condescendingly)
- "I always try to drink my beers with the proper glassware, but as long as I pour it out of the bottle, I feel like I've done what I can."
- "Pumpkin ale on Thankgiving?! I don't know where you live, but it's too cold for that for me. I'm going with a stout."
- "Facebook?!? I do all my social networking on RateBeer.com."
- "Sure that High Life might be half the price, but this barley wine has twice the alcohol!"

Those are just great...and the sad thing is I have probably said at least half of them at one time or another! Ahhh, to love beer.
