As I was scanning through the thumbnail images on the Slashfood Flickr pool, I saw this photo and thought to myself, "I wonder why someone took a picture of a crab boil." Then I noticed that it was submitted by the Whipped Bakeshop and I knew I had to take a closer look.
Turns out it isn't a crab boil at all and instead is a Maryland "Crab Cake" designed and baked for a couple who are getting married on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Everything you see, including mallets and "tin" of Old Bay Seasoning are edible.
Thanks Zoe, for adding this picture to the pool!

we really need to distinguish between edible and palatable....some of this stuff showing up on these creative cakes etc tastes like crap....sure you can eat it....but why would you? and if it tastes so bad why make it edible at all? who is going to eat the edible phila inquirer? if its white chocolate i'd give it a try but if its fondant....welllllll....fondant is pretty gross. and fondant with food coloring is even worse.
