Tip of the Day: Decorate cookies creatively

If you're baking Halloween cookies this weekend, don't limit yourself to basic sprinkle and icing decorations. Get creative with unexpected toppings!
It's easy to top every holiday cookie with a slab of icing and a few sprinkles. But consider adding these treats as well, and you'll find yourself with cookies that are more festive and more delicious!

1. Raisins, dried nuts and other trail-mix items -- They work great as facial features, or you can just stick them to icing for a harvest-themed cookie

2. Non-pareils and snow caps -- Not only are they my personal favorite candies, but they often come in holiday-themed colors

3. A drizzle of melted chocolate -- It makes everything more elegant!

4. Shaped sprinkles -- Check out festive varieties here

5. Cinnamon sugar -- It looks so pretty and sparkly, and gives cookies a distinct autumnal taste

Any favorite toppings? Share them!
