We might knock 'em, but there's a reason that infomercials have stuck around, whether they're trying to sop up big spills, give us perfect-looking skin, or help us cook. Some of it might look terrible, but some of it looks downright irresistible, making many consumers fall for the snappy catchphrases hook, line, and sinker.I remember sitting at my grandparents house in the '80s, watching a commercial for Mr. Mixer, the immersion blender with changeable blades that could whip mayo just as easy as peanut butter, ice, and everything else. Our eyes glazed over in awe, and soon there was a order for two placed to the infomercial gods -- and I got the first kitchen tool I could call my very own.
These days, the blade of choice seems to be the Magic Bullet, which Diablo Cody just raved about over on her blog. But I want to know your infomercial weaknesses, Slashfoodies! Do you own a Foreman Grill? Do you have an old-school Mr. Mixer? The Magic Bullet? Share below!

It's a blender, juice extractor (real juicer, not citrus), coffee bean grinder and single serving blender (magic bullet). It's got a 1hp motor which spins too fast to crush ice (it literally obliterates/melts it rather than crush/slush it). I couldn't be happier with it.

Oh ShamWow, you and I are BFF.

she's bought the bullet, the space waster bags the beef jerky machine, and many more!

I make smoothies, chicken salad, homemade mayonnaise (which it does beautifully!), whipped crem, finely ground nuts for cookies and I used it to make the Pots De Creme recipe from www.pioneerwoman.com and it was deadly good! I will never be without my Magic Bullet! It's the best! All you doubters should try it!

I'm tempted by the cryies of my children to buy the Pancake Puff and the Slider Station. Cute, but awfully gimicky.

As a family we tend to be suckers for infomercials, but luckily don't buy everything we see. One of our favorite infomercial appliances growing up was one of the ones that makes the sealed sandwiches. When I moved out I bought a knock off that puts mickey mouse heads on the sandwiches.

I've never ordered one, but one of these days I'm sure they're going to talk me into it. I also just bought "Perfect Pancake" (which is a knockoff of "Pancake Puff), but I found it at Big Lots for $10 so I don't feel too bad about it.
