I'm not sure what it is about the 2008 Election that has driven people to the bottle. Sure, coping with the anxiety of tough decisions by imbibing alcohol has been around since, well, the day alcohol was invented (good day, by the way), but this year's campaign for the ages has really upped the ante.Tonight is the first, and presumably only, vice presidential debate. Maybe it stems from those viral videos of Sarah Palin's Katie Couric interview or Joe Biden's generally gaffe prone nature, but people are expecting it to be a doozy. Many peoples answer: Get boozy.
Googling "Vice Presidential Debate Drinking Game" (in quotes) racks up a respectable 839 results -- and not many are leftovers of Cheney/Edwards. Want to join in on the fun? After the jump see the links to the top 8...
- Slander '08 -- I wrote this post for another blog and its unbridled success inspired me to touch on the topic here. Obviously the need for a V.P. debate drinking game was in the ether.
- Indecision 2008 -- Our friends over at Comedy Central's take.
- Associated Content -- For those looking to focus specifically on Sarah Palin.
- The Tech -- MIT's take... and college guys know about drinking games.
- Dane101 -- A collaborative effort.
- The Mobtown Shank -- This is like the Axis & Allies version: A ton of rules.
- Where Voters Come to High Five -- Another participatory effort with rules via readers' comments.
- The Sexist -- A drinking game from the home of politics itself.
Obviously, I don't condone any level of excessive drinking, but at the very least don't get too hung over -- the election is only 33 days away.

10-02-2008 @7:49PM Ben said... I've put together a site for Debate Drinking Games at DebateDrink.com. Love to get that included on the list. There will be more for the next two Presidential debates, as well!
