I spent yesterday at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. Over 25 countries were represented at the festival. You "travel around the world" buying small food samples at each country's booth. I had expected typical theme park food. However, the food and wines were above average by any standards - not just theme park standards.
The festival runs though November 9. I have a few strategic tips for those of you who have the opportunity to go:
- Start expanding your stomach now to get ready.
- Do not get more than one of anything, no matter how large your group is - share everything.
- If you must go on rides, do it before you hit the festival. Your stomach will thank you.

It was an event and experience beyond anything I've ever enjoyed. Hanging out with Andre Soltner, watching these awesome upcoming Chefs, eating food prepared by contemporary masters.... I'm still swooning.
If I may be so bold, my better-half wrote up a review here, with a small sampling of the pictures I took: http://hpandaw.wordpress.com/category/bocuse-dor/

Spaten Optimator in Germany was a hit for me, albeit a comfortable standard in my house. I noticed a lot of the same food as in previous years. I am going back on Saturday to sample the food this time.

I haven't gone yet this year but perennial favorites in my circles are the cheddar bacon soup (Sam Adams tent, near Canada) and the Swedish Salmon rolls (previously near Norway, allegedly not present this year, flatbread with smoked salmon, dill and cream cheese). Epcot in general has some of the best theme park dining I've come across. During the rest of the year try to oepn face sandwich at the Kringla Bakery at Norway.
