Tip of the Day: DIY potato Chips

Ever have a potato chip craving at home but didn't have the chips on hand or didn't feel like dealing with the regret afterwards? If you have a microwave and a knife, we have a way to satisfy your craving and your waistline at the same time!

Potato chip cravings can be deady to your waistline. Fear no more, these microwaved potato chjps will satisfy your tummy and keep you in those jeans!

Potato chip cravings can be dangerous, but thanks to the folks over at The Kitchn, giving into the craving doesn't have to be so disastrous. Microwaved potato chips are easy and seriously delicious.

Microwaved potato chips: Slice potatoes about an eighth of an inch. Arrange thinly sliced potatoes in a single layer on a microwavable steam basket or plate. Microwave for three minutes at a time, decreasing the power level and flipping the potatoes with each round.

According to The Kitchn, "the chips come out slightly crinkled and surprisingly crispy. Thicker chips are a bit chewy in spots and thinner chips sometime char. Keep an eye on your chips - they can go from barely brown in spots to charred very quickly. If some of them start to brown but they don't seem quite done, we would suggest to keep cooking them at one minute intervals at the lowest microwave setting. Also, our chips only required two rounds: three minutes on high and three minutes on low."

Since the process is a little time consuming, it is not recommended that you make these for a crowd. Instead, make yourself an afternoon snack without all the guilt. Want to get creative? Sprinkle sea salt and freshly cracked pepper on the chips as soon as they come out of the microwave and are still warm.
