Cocktail Hour: Nolita Heat mocktail

After a week spent wandering the halls of Tales of the Cocktail in July 2008, sipping many finely stirred and shaken libations; I said to myself, "These special cocktails need to be shared with the world." So I bring you Cocktail Hour, a finer way to celebrate the end of the day; with these recipes. They have either been created specifically for Tales of the Cocktail, or re-designed for a new approach on the traditional version by some of the top Mixologists in the world. Many are being presented to the public here for the first time. Enjoy!

This is a non-alcoholic cocktail designed for expectant moms, designated drivers, and those who wish a fine cocktail; but without the kick.

Nolita Heat mocktail recipe after the jump

Nolita Heat created by Natalie Bovis-Nelsen, The Liquid Muse.

1/2 oz fresh lime juice
1/3 oz Prickly Pear syrup
2 oz mango juice
2 oz Fre alcohol removed Brut sparkling wine
2-3 jalapeno slices
1 tablespoon granulated sugar

Rim a chilled champagne flute with sugar and set aside. Muddle jalapeno slices, lime juice, and a pinch of sugar in a mixing glass. Add ice and mango juice, shake well and strain into champagne flute. Slowly pour in prickly pear syrup, allowing it to settle to the bottom of the glass. Gently top with Fre Brut. Garnish with a slice of jalapeno on the edge of the glass.
