It appears that another Food Network star is getting her own magazine. That's right, the very intimidating (tablescapes? really?) Sandra Lee will be joining the ranks of Rachael Ray and Paula Deen by extending her media empire to include a bi-monthly glossy. It will be called Sandra Lee Semi-Homemade (just like her show and books) and a subscription will cost $19.98 for six issues (cover price will be $4.99). The magazine will include entertaining advice, decorating tips and recipes, all with Lee's signature charm.
Will this magazine become a must-read or a must-skip for you?

I also don't have any need to impress my friends with my ability to waste loads of time making clever paper-mache table decorations that will go directly into the garbage when they leave.

The woman routinely subsitutes frozen LIMEADE concentrate for fresh lime juice!!!!
Not to mention she advocates buying a whole pumpkin pie, scooping out the filling, mixing it with cool whip (or something maybe cream cheese frosting?) and then piping THAT into smaller purchased tart shells. And says, to use use the pie crust by crumbling it on ice cream, like that's a big frugal tip.
It's insane. The woman should not have a show.

She's definitely not foodie friendly but that's not her target audience. I can appreciate her. My wife is NOT a foodie and while she wants to make good healthy food, she also doesn't want to spend 3 hours in a kitchen. Anything that helps people not eat a frozen TV dinner is a good thing in my book.

But I know the reason is her false personality. I've worked with many bosses in my life, seen many stars on the set, and I've never worked with anyone so mean and nasty in my long career. Really, I believe its her natural narcissism and gracelessness showing through in her show. This will show less in a magazine, where she'll be able to hide behind writers and airbrushing photographers.

And I wouldn't call what Sandra Lee makes good or healthy, it's all just mixing from cans and pre made mixes. Even when it would be easier to make from fresh. And she does weird things, like use the cheese packet from Kraft mac and cheese to put on corn on the cob.
I've watched Semi Homemade (not recently) but I watched it quite a bit, and it's not as simple and as easy as she makes it out to be. Plus the whole percentage she claims to use isn't right, I've watched where she's used 1 fresh ingredient in a recipe and everything else is bottled, jarred, or packaged.
There are easy and non "foodie" recipes that can be found on Everyday Italian or even Barefoot Contessa athat are easy to make and don't take a long time.
