McDonald's poser coffee commercials

Oh, McDonalds. I'll always love their fries, but man... So in case you haven't caught it, or almost never see commercials (like me), look above. That's the fast food chain's new ad for sure-to-be-tasty lattes, mochas, and cappuccinos under the golden arches.

Those poor women -- having to suffer through reading and a removal from reality television. Having a handle on geography is so oppressive!

I can't help but wonder: Is McDonald's just alerting people to their new products, or do they actually think that specialty coffee drinkers will be lured in by this news? Most likely, it won't be better than wherever anyone gets their joe now, so it's not like they can coax people out of their habit and into the bright lights of fast food service.

For McD's ad for men, head after the jump.

Their iced coffee, on the other hand, tastes great and costs half as much as anywhere else for twice as much coffee. If they make good tasting drinks that are half the cost of Starbucks, I can see there being a few converts.

I won't visit a McDs in Canada -- too many gross experiences.) So, if your McDs has wifi and couches, it's miles ahead of anything I've seen stateside or in Canada.

Personally, I think they're great. I like a good cup of coffee, doesn't really matter where it comes from (of course, there's certain appeal to cozy couches, soft music and wifi ;D) but I do get tired of posers and high priced coffee :p... Too bad that in my country, McDonald's doesn't sell coffee yet

People are cutting back on what they spend and with gas at $4 a gallon and other financial worries, I don't think it is trendy to buy expensive coffee anymore.

McDonalds coffee tastes fine. Some say the iced coffee is even better (I like my coffee hot!).

I think it is a great ad.

My mother is a espresso/latte fan, who drinks about 3 iced latte's on a good day, wanted to go try their latte's. It was gross. Wayy too sweet, and according to her, not even espresso. And I had an iced mocha and it wasn't great. I'm not ruling out their coffee creations just yet, because I know most of the employee's are new and I don't think have been trained on the new machines. I'll try back in a few weeks to see if the coffee gets better.

However, since the onslaught of all these "anti-snobbery" campaigns, I've been forced to decide on the side of snobbery and am willing to defend it now. I'm personally sickened by ad campaigns intent on dumbing down consumer tastes, whether it's coffee or politicians.

So maybe the iced coffee will be equally good. Honestly I go to Starbucks because the are EVERYWHERE and make it oh so easy to feed my coffee addiction not necessiarly because they are better. If I can get good coffee drinks easily someplace else I am all for it.

I'd have to say the ads definitely do their job. Whether or not the coffee is actually decent, it made me laugh, and made me want to at least give it a try. Somebody deserves a raise.

Nobody who loves salad is going to go to McD's specifically for a great salad. But if you're with picky eaters who love McDonald's, or on the road with nothing but fast food chains around, or if you have that kind of child who will only eat apples if they're "apple dippers" with chicken nuggets...

well, McDonald's has realized they can make big bucks catering to people who don't want to be at McD's but are stuck there. Like, if you have to go there because your kid loves the playplace, then you might be more likely to go if you can sit and have a latte while your kid plays. Of if your fast-food-eating friends feel the need to drag you to McDonalds, and you're tired, it'd sure be nice to get a coffee that doesn't taste too crappy. This is, I think, the plan, and it's a damn good one.
