Wawa is an institution all throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. It is a convenience store that outclasses the 7-11s and Plaid Pantries of the the world (although I hear tell that Sheetz gives it a run for its money). Despite their unpleasant habit of closing their urban locations (including the one in my neighborhood), I nuture a deep and abiding fondness for the Wawa brand.
On Monday morning, Wawa reached a milestone, serving up their one billionth cup of coffee. The chain marked the momentous occasion by having company president Howard Stoeckel serve the history-making cup at the Essington, PA store. Wawa is the largest provider of brewed coffee in the Philadelphia area and is the seventh largest ready-to-drink brewed coffee retailer in the nation.
