There's no reason to choose just one topping for pasta or chicken or any base dish -- feel free to mix and match sauces that you've made, or even those you find in your fridge. Here are some basic ideas for mixing up your sauce selection:
1. Pasta with pesto and marinara sauce.
2. Chicken with marinara and alfredo (this recipe calls for either, I say use both!)
3. Salad with two dressings (try combining a peanut dressing and a lime vinaigrette)
4. Meat or fish with an herb/wine reduction sauce and marinara sauce
5. Vegetables with a warm balsamic sauce and a honey mustard sauce.
