It's an old story in marketing. Play to the children, in order to get their parents to spend money on their product. It's why Saturday morning cartoons were once so popular and why lots of the most kid-appealing stuff is placed on the grocery store shelves at their eye-level. Mostly though, this advertising tries to be somewhat discreet.
Not satisfied with the soft sell, one Dairy Queen went for a less subtle approach, entreated kids to "scream until Daddy stops the car." Sadly, this method would have backfired with my parents and would have resulted in us never seeing the inside of a Dairy Queen until we were old enough to get there on our own steam.

I don't see the point of this post. One local DQ manager decides to try a different strategy and it gets posted on a national blog. Way to go.
Could I request more food oriented posts? Please?

I think they could have gone for more subtle tactics than that. I wonder if it worked, though?

Heehee, while this would be totally annoying if a kid did it, I can imagine my mom threatening my dad with this to make him stop for ice cream. :) I love my mom, she always had just as much of a sweet tooth as I did.
And I agree with Heather, it's a cute story and DQ is definitely food related.

That's not new. South of the Border, the tourist trap familiar to Southerners, had those signs up for years.

I thought DQ served food. Therefore it's a food-related post.
Honestly, there is no point to such empty critiques. It's asinine and ego-driven.

Looks like a joke for the parents to me. Hopefully by the time the kids learn to read, they're no longer that bratty.
It's almost a bit like those signs they put up at Auntie Ann's at the mall, joking that mall patrons only went there for a pretzel, and that everything else was an excuse to go.

I guess I'm lucky in that I live within walking distance of a DQ. My favorite is the Green Tea Blizzard... anyone know if that's unique to my area?
