Tip of the Day: A collection of ice cream tips

The onslaught of chills and Autumn leaves might be right around the corner, but it's still summer, so click through for some tips focused on that perfect summer treat: Ice Cream.

  • If you're having an ice cream cone, put a teeny marshmallow in the bottom to avoid those sticky drips.
  • Is your freezer the right temperature? It should be -5 and 0 F for the ice cream. Also, make sure to not the container on the door -- regularity in temp. is key!
  • Chill your bowl to keep the ice cream from melting as quickly.
  • After opening your ice cream, or making some of your own, put a layer of plastic wrap directly on the ice cream to protect it and prolong its goodness and prevent ice crystals.
  • You could let your ice cream sit out to get soft enough to scoop, but to speed things up, warm up your scooping utensil with hot water, dry it off, scoop, and repeat.
