It's time for football to start back up again, both college and pro. In celebration of the Chik-fil-A College Kickoff game, the company has a great freebie offer lined up for Labor Day.
On September 1st, go into any participating Chik-Fil-A wearing a sports team logo and they'll give you an order of their "new and improved" chicken strips. The logo can be from any level of football team, even the one your kid is on.
When I read about this on Fast Food Critic, I immediately thought it was a good deal, Chik-Fil-A being one of the few fast food places that I think has reasonably good food. Fast food Critic also gave the new chicken strips a good review. Can I borrow a team logo hat from someone?

If I could only eat at one fast food restaurant for the rest of my life it would be chick-fil-a. I love them!

Yeah, it's hard to beat that salt-infused, "marinated" but tasteless chicken meat pressure cooked in heartburn inducing oil, and served up with a side of greasy potatoes. I can feel my blood pressure skyrocketing and my heart going into arrhythmia now...

Ed T, are you sure you have ever eaten chick-fil-a?
Their chicken is not tasteless, it's wonderful, and it's cooked in peanut oil, not the standard sludge you find at most places.
Greasy potatoes? I think you're confused which restaurant we're talking about.

Chick-Fil-A is the only fast food I'll eat anymore, because they have sides that aren't fried and greasy. I love the carrot salad and the coleslaw.
Their chicken sandwiches do seem more like real grilled chicken than other places, too. The only thing I don't like is they don't serve tomatoes and onions on their sandwiches.

No Tim, I'm not confused. I lived in Atlanta for 27 years, so yes, I've eaten at CFA. Their food (like most fast food) has gone down in quality over the years. I live in a small town out west now, but CFA managed to follow me out here three years ago. The wife and I went to eat at the new CFA a few times until she became extremely ill with a case of food poisoning after one visit. We don't go there anymore.
Good food? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I suppose. That 4-piece basket of chicken fingers you all are raving about has 1300 mg of sodium (half of the RDA) and 23 grams of fat. Throw in a side of coleslaw and waffle potatoes and we're up to 1800 mg of sodium and 75 grams of fat -- a real health fest.
Do youself a favor and make some real fried chicken using meat that isn't pumped up with salt and chemicals. You'll be amazed at how good it tastes.

It is too bad that CFA is closed on Sunday. It makes some good gridiron eating.
With regards to the comments around the fat in CFA's food, it is fried chicken. Expect some fat or don't eat it. If you are health conscious, their grilled chicken sandwiches are reasonable enough to indulge in.

Ed T,
We will have to agree to disagree. Because in my opinion, and the opinion of almost everyone I've ever talked to, Chick-fil-a makes good food with good flavor. Even people at major food websites like slashfood, chowhound and seriouseats give chick-fil-a respect and they don't like many fast food joints.
As for salt or fat that's another issue. Obviously fast food is not the healthiest choice for everyday eating. It should be a treat or occasional indulgence.

Ed T.,
I used to work at Chick-fil-a. While I can't speak for other stores, I can personally vouch for the chicken in the stores I worked for. (Being a very curious person, I checked). I had to 'filet' hundreds of chicken breasts...I definitely know it's real chicken!! It's all white meat and it's illegal to add hormones and such to any chicken....Salt is not added to the chicken (although naturally, the fries have salt- but you can request it without it), it's flavored by both the chicken, peanut oil, and batter- which doesn't have any additional preservatives, sodium, etc...
As for the Chicken Salad Sandwiches, yes, that's real chicken in there as well. It's made from the same meat as the chick-fil-a sandwiches.

Actually im really glad i checked out this story, other then the fact that their food tastes just horrible its noce to know that they cook in peanut oil when so many people are allergic to nuts and now i have a perfectly good excuse to never take my son there as he is one of those people.

I love this restaurant! The people are genuinely friendly! When you order at the window, I smile every time they say, "it's my pleasure to serve you". And the new Chic-Fil-A sauce is fantastic, you have to try it with the strips.

Sorry but Ed T sounds like a malcontent with an ax to grind at any and all opportunities. He's made up his mind the chicken has things pumped into it/"bad" for you in ANY quantity and EVERYONE EXCEPT Ed T has been duped (sorry Ed T, but this sounds like the Earth is Flat bunch! lol). Readers, don't waste your breath with FACTS--EdT won't have any of it :) EdT: likely an Obama voter....LMAO

I am hooked on the breakfast chicken mini. I could eat those all day long. Nice sweet sticky yeast roll dripping with butter. Yes, I know how much fat and calories are in those because I looked it up recently, but darn it... they are delish. And I love them.

I've been eating Chick-Fil-A since the late sixties when I was in high school. It's the best. While I suppose you get a bad meal in one of their restaurants now and then, overall, there is no better run business, no better quality fast food, no more trustworthy staff than those associated with CFA. If it is not right, they will go out of their way to make it right. And if it is not right, fill out a customer cares card in the restaurant and put it in the box. You'll hear from the operator promptly. And that's Chick-Fil-A, not Chik-Fil-A, btw.
