Tip of the Day: Clean with Lemon

Forget fancy, overpriced organic cleaners. You can do plenty with just a squeeze of citrus.
lemons
DIY Life has a rundown of household uses for lemon. Some of the highlights:

- Grind half a lemon in the garbage disposal to get rid of funky odors.

- Remove ink stains from clothing with a paste of lemon juice and cream of tartar. Just apply to the stain, wait 15 to 30 minutes, then wash as usual.

- Clean tarnished copper pots with a scrubber made from half a lemon dipped in salt. Clean silver with lemon juice and buff with a soft cloth.

- The cut lemon and salt trick works for stained countertops too.

- Polish furniture with a mixture of lemon juice, olive oil and water.
