Remember those old cartoons, in which one character would bake bolt cutters or a file into a cake, pie or loaf of bread, so that another character could bust out of the joint? I remember being highly entertained by those animated antics as a kid. However, as one New York man discovered recently, it's not nearly as amusing to discover something baked into your lunch in real life. On June 27th, John Agnesini of Astoria, NY was sitting down to a foot-long Subway sandwich when he noticed a few bites in that something just didn't taste right. Feeling something hard on the bottom of his bread, he turned over the sandwich to discover that a 7-inch serrated knife was baked into the bread on which the sandwich had been made. He was sick for nearly three hours after eating that small portion of the sandwich.
Subway refuses to comment on the incident and Agnesini is currently suing the chain for $1 million.

They aren't serrated though, they're sharp - I cut myself a couple times regrettably). I don't know how the person making the sandwich could have shoved the knife INSIDE the sandwich and closed it up without noticing it though. I also don't see how this made the guy sick for hours afterward. THAT doesn't make sense. More than likely the knife was use to cut his sandwich so it wasn't contaminated with anything, just had whatever he had on his sandwich on it. I could understand if he cut his mouth on it, but sick? C'mon.

Everyone is looking for the quick buck at whomever's expense is convenient at the moment. Let's go into a sandwich shop and claim a 7 inch knife is "baked" into a loaf of bread ("I'll claim it was a foot long to make more sense" - forgetting that they ABSOLUTELY cut ALL 12" sandwiches in half), then claim the two bites I took made me sick (from what, the THOUGHT of what MIGHT have happened?. Then I will sue for a million dollars for my conjured illness. We should all be able to sue people like this John Agnesini for screwing up our way of life. He should get jail time for attempting this.

I find it very hard to believe that it was baked into the bread there is no possible way it could have gotten into the dough before it was baked without really messing up the loaf this a case of someone putting it into their sandwich after they got it. It is always cut in half and sliced down the center it would have been impossible not to have seen it.This person is trying to make a quick million and I guarantee that it wont hold water in court.

I am not, whatsoever, an advocate of frivolous suing; but where food is concerned, I consider it a crime of attempted murder or harm, or at the very least unnecessary carelessness, when a restaurant employee either tries to "take it out" on a customer by fiddling with the food, or is simply negligent. Sorry, but that should never be tolerated anywhere, anytime, nor under any circumstances.

SO how could it be a 7 inch knife baked into the bread becasue the sandwich maker would have noticed this when they cut it in half.Who knows how it got in there. Maybe its a conspirosy with one of the workers there and this guy? Maybe they did leave the knife in there on purpose. ANd which half did he pull the knife out of< the other half looks almost gone, SO how did he get this knife out>I think Its a scam a lot of them out there like that, now .

Whos to say this guy is not trying to scam Subway, maybe a knife was in there, maybe it was put there by an employee that knows this guy and they are in it togather to get a million.
And what half was this knife in, the other half looks almost gone so if it was in that half why did he eat most of it then find the knife. If it was in the half that is almost a whole one, then why did he not leave the bread open to show wherethe knife was found, and why would you start on your second half with some of the first half still left. Its just a thought, but this sounds like a scam

I actually had this happen in my boyfriends sandwich and when we called the subway we had picked up the sandwichs from all we were told was to bring the knife back and the manager said it was no big deal. It was extremely sharp and only reason he had not bit the knife was because after a bite he looked down and saw the tip of the knife.

I work in alot of subways and know how the bread is baked their is no way the knife was baked in the bread.when the sub was cut in half the knife was placed down beside the sub and when they roled the sub in paper the was over looked. so when the guy unroled his sub he had so see the knife. so now he lies to try to get money from a scam. they should lock the bum up and throw away the keys.
