Tip of the Day: Take out the right amount of cheese when entertaining

When you are entertaining, you should only take out the amount of cheese you plan on using. This may seem obvious. But, many times, we forget that even though we may have a half-pound of Stilton, it may not be the best idea to serve the entire piece unless we know it will all be eaten.

Cheese plateBefore slicing your cheeses and serving them, I highly suggest that you take into consideration the amount of people who will be savoring them. This may seem like a minor detail, but it can affect the overall taste of your cheese.

Cheeses mature quickly at room temperature. This means that their flavor enhances. This is the precise reason why we suggest that you let your cheeses sit out at room temperature before eating them. However, the major problem is that the cheese leftovers that are put back in the fridge after the gathering will lose flavor the next time you want to eat them. This is because they were ripening while sitting out.

Make it simple! Cut half the amount of what you think people will actually eat. If you think that your company will go through one pound of cheese, only take out a half pound. You can always take out more cheese! By doing this, you will ensure that your cheese lasts longer and tastes superb.
