Christian organization boycotts McDonald's for having a "Gay Agenda"

McDonald'sRecently, the AFA (American Family Association) launched a site announcing that it will boycott McDonald's for not remaining neutral on "culture wars," particularly the corporation's promotion of a homosexual agenda. The web site shows a television commercial from last year's San Francisco Gay Pride in which McDonald's announces its commitment of support to the gay and lesbian community.

But, just how gay-friendly is McDonald's?
Besides airing that commercial, just this past March, Vice President of Communications Richard Ellis joined the Board of Directors of the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC). To me, it doesn't seem as though McDonald's has a "gay agenda." Instead, it appears that the company is part of an overall corporate trend: diversity in the work place.

Apparently, the AFA was set off by a simple letter written by Pat Harris, the Global Chief Diversity Officer, in which he states the corporation's respect for employees "regardless of their ethnicity, religious beliefs, and sexual orientation." In doing so, McDonald's has simply reiterated an all-inclusive policy that is more or less standard with most big companies, including The Walt Disney Company, Goldman Sachs and Coca-Cola. There is nothing particularly revolutionary about McDonald's stance -- it's certainly not the latest shot in some kind of "culture war."

Maybe the folks from the AFA have been eating too many Big Macs. It'll probably do them so good to lay off the meat. (Last thing we want is for them to use the junk-food defense to get away with any shenanigans.)

Do you think that McDonald's has a gay agenda?

I work in an office with practically all Christians, myself included, and I get things like this forwarded to me constantly. All it usually takes is a visit to snopes to debunk it all. Don't heed anything that they say.

These poor, poor men are so filled with self loathing, acting out against that which they have been taught to hate while knowing that, at their core, they are that very thing. This isn't anything new or anything that isn't repeated in many areas of human behavior. Its just sad to see people so desperate to be punished and told they are bad, bad boys.

They also boycotted Ford a few years ago for running ads in a gay magazine. A boycott, of course, prevents American workers from making money to feed their families. And that's somehow supposed to benefit American families?

That said, not every anti-gay person is a closeted homosexual. That kind of thinking will get you nowhere.

Their M.O. is to target a company with a strong diversity policy (read: just about every major American corporation) but underperforming stock and announce that they're boycotting them for their "sinful" ways and beg for donations to fight the good fight.

A quarter or two later, after disappointing financial results are announced (as they would have been regardless of the AFA's meddling), the cultists issue a press release declaring their boycott target has learned its lesson and they're no longer boycotting.

Lather, rinse, repeat. It's all about making sure AFA's core demographic continues to feel "persecuted" and keep those donations flowing.

What the AFA is saying by this is that they don't care about any of the rest of that, about McDonald's corporate abuses, greed, valuing money over our health, where and how they get the foodstock they use, and its impact on the environment. They do, however, care about the sexual orientation of someone in the corporation.

Screw the AFA. They "strain out the gnat but swallow the camel". They need to pluck the log out of their own eye before they pick on the speck in their brethren's eye.

They are calling for a boycott because McD's openly supports the gay agenda (same sex marriage, etc.) by giving gay organizations large sums of money and allowing one (that we know of) of there exec's to serve on the board of a large, well known Gay and Lesbian organization.

Life in developing world is totally different from that in developed
world mostly in addressing afflicting points in one of the nations

community.
The 10 years experience in caring for the orphans in a developing
world, I have gone through a lot of tests /struggles without a funding
person except the only 30 acres of land that has been the main and only
funding source sustaining these kids who are beyond 150 in number.
We use to plant maize, cassava, rice, sweet potato, yams, beans and
groundnuts.
We sell part and survive on the balance as the sold part is for books,
simple clothing and beddings for the kids,(that's the life of Ugandan
child).
Many disasters have befallen on us while the government has done very
little to address them to the maximum which among others include, wars,
floods, and the
total poverty on the increasing number of community
orphan child caused by different disasters.
Orphans in the villages of the developing world can make everyone to
shed tears including the administration that's why in Africa many fathers
do a lot evil accts to the people they take care of (i.e. sacrificing

e.t.c)
GEnerally it needs to develop everything GOD blessed us with like land, garden and others to make us tsand for the future and be helpfull to the whole world and ensure that the big and free land which developing world have in plenty, fully provides both funds and
foods for survival.
And as my topic is, the developing world orphans are internationally
forgotten with no one caring and for the few who cares they want to put
us together at the same level
with this who is in developed world. The
center reached to 210 children/ orphaned people who have joined this
year and we have to maneuver to ensure that they're not kicked out to
street life. Due to the problems and difficulty in caring for the orphan
child that includes a lot emphasis in many areas OF LIVING. For us we think the
only investment in our OWN
firm which may yield a lot in both food for survival and funds for other necessities but still.
We are
looking for solution / advise to enable us achieve our laid strategies of
caring for orphans since the situation at the center
needs attention and as Uganda position in development needs total
effort to sustain such centers.
Can you advise Banunule orphanage administration on the way of taking
the orphans a step further? And what is your a

dvice?
Thanks
