Essem's are number 1, Jordan's are very close and since neither are available any longer in the south now we can only get Kayem as a frankfurter.
not smoked and with a natural casing. and for those that only eat disgusting skinless hot dogs true franks have natural casing and so they do "pop" when done

I don't know if Tobin's First Prize hot dogs are still made. When I was a boy in Massachusetts, those were what we had in our home.

Pop-Open type hots. But to truly enjoy this, you
should add a great hot sauce.(Not a barbecue type
like in and around Buffalo, but a ground up meat type
found around the Rochester, N.Y. area, particularly
found in many of the Greek restaurants).

Ball Park has 5 or so on the list! DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't eat Ball Park hot dogs. They make me sick. Literally. They make me blow chunks.

variety. It has a definite "snap" when you bite into it. They have been used by street vendors in New York & New Jersey for years. And they are great in Italian style hot dog sandwiches; invented in NJ by
Jimmy 'Buff" Raccioppi in the 1930's Ask anyone in Newark/Jersey City/ NYC and they will tel you the same thing
