Fishy pizza: Yuk!

Sardines on pizza
Every time that I order pizza at a restaurant and I find out that they've flavored it with sardines, I start to gag. The combination of any fish and pizza is nauseating and repulsive. For some reason, sardines over pizza is the worst. The most disgusting thing about this pairing has to be the stinking fishy aroma emanating from the pizza pie. The slippery texture of the cheese and the fish only add to the unpleasant experience.

I do not understand why waiters sometimes forget to tell their guests that a certain pizza contains sardines. You should be warned before munching into this sort of gooey mess.

Do you mean anchovies? I've never heard of sardines on pizza.

(My favorite pizza is anchovies and artichoke hearts, on whole wheat crust if I can get it.)

Some of us love the anchovy-sardine-herring stuff and others are like you. But at least allow us the pleasure. I'm a little surprised the menu doesn't list what's on your pizzas, though, or that they put them on despite your ordering whatever it is you like for a topping.

Has that ever happened to anyone in the history of the world? Also, wouldn't you think foodies would be the type of people to appreciate sardines? What a lame posting for a food blog.

Guess you can't please anyone sometimes.

pun not intended
We've created wonderful pizzas using sardines in mustard sauce, crabmeat, shrimp, salmon, tuna, scallops, etc, and various combinations of seafood. We also use artichoke hearts, asparagus, fresh spinach, avocado, fresh whole cilantro leaves, and whatever else sounds good at the moment.
For a quickie, we just throw a can of tuna and a bag of frozen stir-fry veggies on a frozen cheese pizza and add more cheese to the top, sprinkle a massive amount of granulated garlic and 12-18 minutes later, we have an easy gourmet pizza!
Truly delicious!

They have about 20 specialty pizzas, with about half having corn, half having mayonaise, and about a third having seafood; including, but not limited to, fish, shrimp, and squid. I've gotten used the corn and mayo on pizza, but I still can't do fish.

So why the food rants lately? Sorry to hear your pizza had items on it you weren't expecting-- seems like grounds to return it, along with the fact that you don't like anchovies-- but outright labeling a food disgusting or repulsive makes no sense.

Most people that I meet who claim that they don't like anchovies have never actually had them. I think that they sometimes rely to much on their noses, mythology, and implied cultural stigmatism. So as for myself and many others, I will continue to get anchovies on my pizza. And I will order EXTRA on my caesar salad. And as for one of my favorite pizzas: Pizza De Mare(pizza of the sea). Shrimp, baby octopus, clams, and mussels, or any assortment of wonders from the sea.

Oh and don't tell the anchovy haters that they are key elements in authentic caesar salad dressing and spaghetti puttanesca.

That might ruin an entire meal, as often these are eaten together at an Italian ristorante!

Doesn't this freakin' site have editors?

"Gee, he sure knows his cheese..."

He didn't write about cheese, he wrote about being blindsided(?) by sardines(??) on pizza. Sounds like somebody at the local pie stand doesn't care for old Max and is screwing with him.

Why is there always one yutz that feels they have to rush to the defense of idiocy with irrelevant distractions. "You shouldn't say bad things about Sandra Lee, she was abused as a child..." So that entitles her to proffer crap upon the rest of us? Satan didn't get along with his dad and the old man kicked him out - should we "cut him some slack"?

Jeez.
