6-20-2008 @1:30PM Sarah said... Anything with etching or inlays like gold or silver is a definite no-no for us at least... lost more than one teacup that way! Also anything that's been repaired like cup handles or slight cracks - they don't like the dishwasher either.

Also, any glasses with etched or coloured patterns.
Dishwashers have very high temperatures, and highly abbrasive detergents which will scratch and nick anything soft or strip off thin coatings. Over time, patterns fade, edges dull, and protection gets worn down.
