Yöghund: Frozen yogurt for dogs

OK, I think I've now seen it all. What the heck is the world coming to? I was perusing the frozen organic food aisle at my new neighborhood supermarket, trying to memorize where everything is located. It's just a hair under ten miles to the nearest market and I want to make my trips there fast and easy. I don't like most prepared organic foods, I find them a bit to crunchy, dippy hippy, bland, and boring for me. After working for many years out in the wilderness for Outward Bound I ate a bit too much granola, and bland, easy to pack and carry but tasteless, organic and vegetarian schlock; called food by my partners. But I try to buy organic produce whenever possible and I love the thought of organic food. So I tend to try every new product that catches my eye. I was checking out all the faux "Ice Cream" when I saw it. Yöghund: Frozen yogurt for dogs- Banana and Peanut Butter flavor!

From their website, "Our Organic Banana & Peanut Butter recipe features potassium rich bananas, which are also a great source of the prebiotic inulin, along with peanuts for flavor and antioxidants. And of course, its primary ingredient is organic, low fat yogurt with live and active cultures, complete with all the benefits of probiotics."

Now that sounds pretty tasty to me. But then I looked at the price. It was almost Triple the cost of the closest organic frozen yogurt for People! I worked a bit with sled dogs, farm and work animals, etc. and I guess come from that viewpoint. Sure, when I had a reptile breeding and education business I gave a varied diet of mice, lizards, crickets, hissing roaches, etc. to them, but not foods that they wouldn't or couldn't eat in the wild. That's all I want to say about that, or else I'll be screaming and yanking out my hair by the roots. I like my hair, so after this I'm putting the whole experience out of mind.

OK, I know I probably offended a whole lot of people with my comments. Most were said in fun, tongue in cheek, and I'm not THAT serious about it. But still, three times the price that you would pay for yourself? Now Come On!

Oh, and by the way, also from the website, "Organic Blueberry & Vanilla Bean (coming soon!) Our new Organic Blueberry and Vanilla Bean recipe includes all the vitamins and antioxidants found in blueberries and vanilla beans, as well as the calming aroma of vanilla. Its primary ingredient is organic, low fat yogurt with live and active cultures, complete with all the benefits of probiotics."

Since so many people give their dogs ice cream in the summer (every dog I've ever known seems to adore it), at least a few local ice cream shops have started including dog-friendly versions of their wares (lower fat and sugar, basically).
