Feast Your Eyes: A display of tri-colored asparagus

My
love of asparagus has been well documented around these parts. But I'd like to think that even if I couldn't stand the stuff, I'd still be able to see the beauty in this picture. I find that there's really very little that's more lovely that fresh fruits and vegetables and this is a wonderful example of that gorgeousness. This display of tri-colored asparagus (with a few tomatoes that are peaking in from the corner) makes me happy (and made me briefly consider painting my living room the color of those purple-ish stalks).
Thanks
Marilyn, for adding your image to the
Slashfood Flickr pool!

Megan Boris-
Where can you find tri-colored asparagus? I'm familiar with the green and white variet, but I've never come across purple. Suggestions for where to get it?

Hi Megan! Marilyn took those pictures at a market in France. I haven't seen them in my area, but I imagine that the best place to find them would be at your local farmers markets.

I'm in Indiana and I see green and white at the grocery; green and purple at the farmer's markets. I don't think I've seen all three at any one place.

Marisa, glad you liked it! The asparagus is absolutely incredible over there and ready for picking (and eating) every day over here.
