When I was younger and had trouble falling asleep, I used to fantasize about my perfect birthday party. I would plan everything in my head -- my dress, activities, the guests, even the flavors of cake I would serve. Now when I can't sleep, I imagine my dream kitchen. It's enormous and beautiful and light, and it opens seamlessly into an outdoor deck area where I have another (you guessed it) huge kitchen. The outdoor kitchen is for serving guests and hanging by the pool (with hot tub and waterfall) in the summer. It has a gorgeous grill with a rotisserie, as well as a smoker and a shiny stainless steel refrigerator, sink and dishwasher. This is a bit embarrassing, but sometimes when my boyfriend and I are bored, we like to drool over these appliances in magazines and stores.
Who wants to use their imagination? After the jump, let's play make believe, and look at some amazing outdoor kitchen equipment and pretend that we own it.
I knew you would.

And since we're being ridiculous, how about this meat thermometer from the same site?

Now you share -- what's going in your fantasy outdoor kitchen?

While you're at it, let's dream that the bill for all this is sent to Bobby Flay!

I'm all for the U shape. My husband and I go on dates to the Home Depot Expo store to plan out our dream house all the time. Kind of sad, I know.

This totally reminds me of a dream that I had a few years back. At the time I was living in a TINY TINY bachelor apartment (I was a first year university student) (the place couldn't have been more than 250 square feet). I mean TINY. My kitchen was about 3 feet by 6 feet (a galley kitchen just along the back wall. Anyway, as I loved to cook, I tried not to let that bother me too much, and I just cooked to my heart's content. Anyway, the week I was moving out of that apartment, I had a dream that I came home one day and noticed some drapes hanging down from one little spot on the wall. "Hmm...what's that? I never put drapes there..". So, I walked over and pushed the drapes aside, revealing a staircase. I walked up the stairs to find the most unbelievable, HUGE (think 40 feet by 40 feet) Martha Stewart-esque kitchen you had ever seen. It was complete with every stainless steel apliance you could think of, a copper hanging pot rack, a country/garden decor, and all the trimmings. In my dream, I feel to my knees and cried at the thought that I had lived in this tiny apartment for two whole years, cooking in my miniscule kitchennette, all the while not realizing until the very last day I was in the apartment, that I had the most amazing kitchen right up stairs.
And then I woke up.

Floridian Lanai makes me Wanna Cry said...
I have an outdoor kitchen on our Lanai (outside patio, screened in) as we live in Florida. Trust me. The outside kitchens are VERY difficult to maintain. They age horribly, and the sun fades and damages everything, even though we have a partial roof, shade and screening to protect it. It gets mildewed, bugs love to nest in every little nook (Florida is loaded with insects!) and regardless of how much of a neat freak or Martha Stewart wannabee you are - these outdoor 'fantasy' kitchens are not all they are cracked up to be. Our home and kitchen is less than 3 years old and looks 10. Keep your dream kitchens INDOORS where they belong. It's not worth the work to keep them clean and looking new outdoors! That only happens on Television.
