I think Popsicles were one of my favorite summertime treats. Of course I liked ice cream sandwiches and the like, but there was always just something about classic Popsicles. The grape flavor was always my favorite. I loved the flavor, and the color they left on my tongue. I remember having to lick off the ice coating to get to the flavor, and maybe that little bit of work required on my part made me love them more. After I got the ice coating off, I'd suck all the flavor out of the top most portion and then eat the icy parts. Oh, the memories.
I remembered this recently on a walk down the ice cream aisle at my local super market. That is one of the aisles that I try to avoid, but I thought I'd just peruse it that day. Seeing the Popsicles brought out the kid in me and I ended up getting a box. What frozen treats bring out the kid in you?

Also, Thrifty Ice Cream was always the best on a hot summer day, whether my sisters and brother and I would walk to the closet Thrifty to get our two scoops for 25 cents or if our grandpa would drive us to the one closet to his house and then we'd sit on the bench outside and eat our ice cream cones before they could melt too much! Rainbow sherbet was always my first choice...yum!

When I was very young, my grandma's favourite was these chocolate dipped, vanilla ice cream popsicles called Revello. I wasn't crazy about them, but they sure do evoke a lot of childhood memories.
But the All Time Favourite are those red, white & blue Firecracker popsicles, that I could only ever buy from the travelling ice cream trucks in the summertime. Oh, I'm drooling now just remembering them.
And now I'm fondly remembering this one summer I was working up island, and had a 2 hour drive each way, so being the dead heat of summer, I would get these huge fudgesicles that had creamy fudge inside from the gas stations along the way. I can't get them in a grocery store, but boy o boy are they somethin' else.
