There's nothing worse than needing juice from a lemon or lime, and finding that you've purchased the least juicy fruit in the store. Before heading back to the grocer, try out some of these tips:1. Roll the lemons and limes against the counter with the palm of your hand.
2. Microwave them for about 15 seconds, or until they are slightly warm before squeezing.
3. Avoid painful fingers by using tongs to squeeze your fruits for you.
4. From a wonderful blog post on Pinch My Salt, I learned that you should shop for smooth-skinned lemons that feel heavy for their size, and also that if you are using both the lemon zest and juice, remove the zest before cutting and juicing the lemon.

What I have bought instead of going thru the hassle is a lemons squeezer that's made of rock or stone, I'm not sure, I just know I bought it at a Mexican store and it works great and I got it for a dollar. Since then all my friends have one, its so easy and not a mess.
