It's not that all the franchisees are against the dollar menu, but they don't want to have to spend money advertising it, either. That's understandable: they want customers to purchase the more expensive items so that they can make more money. The franchisees argue that they're paying a higher minimum wage and food costs are skyrocketing. They're worried that more and more people are "trading down" for value menu items, and at the same time they're not getting enough new customers to make up the difference.
A spokesperson for the company said that there will always be a little bit of push and pull, but that problems will always be resolved because the company only makes money if the franchises do.
Er, good luck.

I took my son to McDonald's for lunch today and they actually charged me $0.30 to add MAYONNAISE to a sandwich. THIRTY CENTS... for MAYO. I asked for some honey mustard for the same sandwich and the man gave me THREE honey mustard cups for free... but wouldn't budge on the thirty cent mayo? dubya tee eff.

When they recently stopped selling the Big Xtra in Canada in favor of the Angus burger I haven't gone. That just leaves me with the gordita crunch as my last fast food item i love.
I might pop by a mcdonalds for some fries, but i find if you only order fries they are cold.

If you want HOT fries ask for them with no salt. Just be sure to carry your own in your car. I love dollar menus. Hope they stay. Taco Bell has $.79 and .89 now too.

The company is throwing a big smokescreen with the spokesperson's line- "The company only makes money if the franchises do." Do they think we're idiots? The company takes their percentage 'off the top'. Franchise owners have to pay all the bills with what's left. The corporations that sell franchises ALWAYS make money. It's no wonder the franchise owners are upset trying to cover all the rising costs with shrinking profts.

I like to order the double cheeseburger, substitute Big Mac sauce. They hardly ever get it right, instead adding BigMac sauce to the mustard and ketchup, so now I just do it at the one rest. I know will do it right. I miss the $1 sausage mcmuffin.

Fine, Big Mac, I don't have to frequent your establishment ... nor any other fast-food establishment! I'll make my own damned
sandwiches and mix my own iced tea! I just wish more consumers would stand their ground with these big chains ... food and otherwise ...
and make a statement. We are repeatedly treated with increasing disrespect, if not overtly, then subtlely, and I'm tired of it! Higher prices; less service; rude or ignorant tellers and clerks.
Hell, most clerks, if they didn't have a calculating register couldn't make change for a dollar! Sorry, I guess this article just hit a nerve! Mac Donald's franchisers wanting to remove any kind of a
bargain and 'force' us to spend more because their profits are NOT HIGH enough! Where have we heard THAT before? EVERYWHERE!!!!! Ya know, my parents, when they were kids, had NO Big Mac or Burger King or Dairy Queen ~ etc., etc., etc. and THEY survived to adulthood and beyond! We can do the same! My trips to most any establishment is curtailed considerably these days ... and I intend to keep MORE money in my pocketbook than I have in the past!

People complain about the country's obesity rate, but when McDonald's isn't getting as much service and less customers they are going to complain too? No one is ever satisfied...

I don't eat out much less the dollar menu. Why spend a dollar for a cheap burger if the gas to go get it costs $8.00 Cheaper for me to walk to the grocery store and make a sandwich. McDonalds needs to teach their employees how to make coffee..last cup I got there could use for paint remover!

Here's a response to the greedy McDonald's franchisers: Raise your price and I'll stay home!!
I've been eating at Mickey D's since the first one opened near us in 1956, but I am tired of being held hostage to GREED!

Have any of you people watched Super Size Me? For the love..... these places are slowly killing you and all you can gripe about is "big mac sauce", dollar menus, franchise fees, and mayo? To make any fast food joint a staple of your weekly diet is, to say the least, sad!

To those who complain about franchisees making too much money, I have a simple question:
What the hell do you know about it? Are all hard working people that own businesses all making mega profits? I think not.If they are staying above water, in many cases, they are doing well.
Fact: Food industry is one if the lowest margin segments in the American Economy.Another fact:
9 out of 10 new food establishments opened in U.S. will be closed in 2 years. Been in the business 30 years. You do not like the food, the service etc... fine, but do not fool yourself into thinking that you are some kind of victim.

Are there two versions of the film super size me. I have seen and enjoyed the film but never got the message all of you seemed to get. I still enjoy McDonalds, The message I got (as metioned by the film maker) is don't eat at McD's 30 days straight. Even he mentions how tasty their food is. Now that I've said my piece go ahead and rip me apart.

I eat more fast food than I should, but I always order the same thing and it always costs me the same amount. The thing that amuses me is, McD's does two pies for a dollar.. I never want two, they don't understand why I would spend a dollar on a single pie instead of getting the two offered.
When they start charging for ketchup and napkins, THEN we'll be in trouble. Til then please remember that the guy who runs the franchise in your area is trying to make a buck while paying the same gas prices, food costs and electricity bills as you. Don't moan too much when he is forced to raise his prices to cover his costs cause if you were him, you'd have to do the same or lose the store.

My McDonalds stopped their double cheese burger dollar menu item, along with most of their dollar menu, about a year ago... I was thinking OK, everything has gone up, thanks to the Bush destruction of the USA, but it went from a dollar to $2.69 and the Stupid Bastard who owns the place has actually asked me why he no longer sees me there anymore??? Duhhh??? It's now cheaper to eat at a sit down diner, then swallow their Crap... Like all the other fast food places, McDonalds ought to figure out that without their cheap price, who the Hell needs their Cheap Food??? Throwing steak sauce on two burgers made into one, doesn't make it the same as the Angus burger my local dinner sells for almost a buck cheaper then McRipoff... Bad food and High prices, my what a novel Idea!!! Go to Hell McDonalds and take Burger King with you...

They can keep the dollar menu or forget me as a customer. Don't want full meals, have a restricted diet-cardiac, cholesterol and diabetes and am also on a fixed and limited income and can only afford so much. For my wife and myself, the fare is too expensive and not heart or anything else healthy-i.e.-grease, fats, etc.
