Tip of the Day: Measuring sticky ingredients

I don't know about you, but I dread measuring sticky ingredients. Here are a few tips on making measuring less dreadful.
a can of cCrisco, with a spoon holding a large portion of it.I love baking with ingredients like honey and molasses, not to mention peanut butter. However, I really wish that they were easier to get out of the measuring container.

One thing you can do is to use a shortening, like Crisco or butter, to lightly grease the inside of the measuring device. This helps the sticky ingredient to release more easily.

There are also measuring devices available that clean themselves. They're a cylinder that have a mechanism to push the ingredient out and clean the sides at the same time. It's hard to explain, but one example is here.

I hope these tips help make molasses and honey that much more appealing.
