Wise Onion and Garlic: The forgotten chips?

Wise Onion and GarlicFor the longest time, the only onion and garlic flavored chip I could find at my supermarket was the Wise brand. Which was fine, since I like Wise chips, but I never understood why no one else was making them. Now, obviously, this was probably a regional thing when I was growing up, and I've since found other companies that make onion and garlic chips (including Utz and Boyer's).

But no other brand tastes like the Wise brand. Both the onion and the garlic are strong. It's not one of those chips that taste like someone just dusted the surface with onion and garlic, this is deep down taste (you will want to brush your teeth before you talk to/kiss anyone or go to bed).

No one really talks about onion and garlic chips. If onion chips are talked about, it's usually sour cream and onion flavors, which a lot of companies make. I like those, but I like to think of onion and garlic flavor as something exotic that not too many people are into (even if that isn't the case).

It makes you want to lick the inside of the bag for the taste. No one could ever duplicate the great taste that Wise brings to this chip.

They did not bleach their chip like Lays and this offered deep brown and exquisitely flavored chips throughout the bag. Lay were a pale comparison as were any other brand with the possible exception of Charles Chips.

Because I grew up knowing the perfect chip, I have always abjured flavored chips. I find the powdery tastes of the onion, chili or whatever seasoning, to be tongue coatingly cloying and offensive. Frankly, it seemed pointless to try to improve on perfection. The only flavored chip I can abide is the salt and vinegar, but not very many.
