I don't know about you, but I'm always looking for great weekend breakfast ideas. I want something that maybe takes a little more time than you have during the week, but won't take all day to make either. It also has to be something that tastes great and is suitably impressive.
I think I've found a new one to try for this weekend. A few days ago, while perusing the baking blogs, I came across this post from Bakers' Banter. While it starts out talking about whole grain pancakes, the post goes on to give a step by step, pictorial recipe for German pancakes. I seem to recall having seen them in a cookbook before I really got into cooking, but since I didn't cook I promptly forgot about them.
After reading this article, and seeing how good these pancakes look, I am definitely making them this weekend. What about you? If you try this recipe out, I'd love to hear about it!

Had these many times. They are super easy, and super good.
Although I have more commonly seen them called David Eyre's Pancakes, or Dutch Baby.

I tried these for the first time this morning and they are super easy and delicious! I just had to use a pyrex glassware cause i didnt have a big enough oven-proof skillet. Thank you so much for having this post before I could think of what to eat for breakfast.

I've made these for years, using my great-grandmother's German pancake pan, which is just a cast-iron skillet, but that's what she always use it for. My mom gave it to me when I got my own place, a sort of passing of the torch (it was hard for her to give up that 100-year-old perfectly seasoned pan!).
My skillet is small, just nine inches, so I only ever make German pancakes for two. You can't really make them in batches in one pan, since it really should be cold to start with.

Warning: don't substitute soy milk for the milk in the recipe.
I've made dutch baby apple pancakes (saute apples in butter/brown sugar/cinnamon in the pan first) with great success.
Tried the above recipe, but used soy milk (all we had in the fridge).
The bad news: Completely flat, zero puff!
The good news: The family loved 'em and wants to save the recipe ;)
