Have you seen herb scissors?

a pair of multi-bladed herb scissors
My birthday is coming up, and so Saturday night I got together with a few friends to celebrate with a potluck dinner. Despite the fact that I told all who asked that I didn't need a thing, several people brought gifts. Because these people all know me so well, nearly all the gifts were food-related.

My cousin Angie brought the scissors you see above. The package calls them Herb Scissors and up until this weekend, I had never seen anything like them. I haven't actually tried to use them yet (although I have plans to use them on a bunch of parsley in my fridge soon), but I find them fascinating (and oddly reminiscent of Edward Scissorhands).

What do you all think? Useful time saver, or space stealing gadget?

They work well but most of the time I forget about it and just go for a knife. In addition, they are slightly difficult to clean.

You don't want stems in your herbs. Parsley especially. When you take the leaves off the stems, then how exactly do you cut them with the scissors?

I haven't yet pulled the trigger, as to be honest, my 8 or 10" chefs knife works just fine for herbs and pretty quick, but a multi-blade mezzaluna works much better.

Silly to switch to a mezzaluna for home cooking though, when I already have the chefs knife out....just another thing to clean.

If I was catering, or prepping in a kitchen then I'd have my mezzaluna right next to my mandolin.

of scoop thing. They're great for doing things like chopping eggs for
egg salad, or chopping onions. Anything when you want smaller pieces
but they don't have to be even.
