Hey, we've had bacon ice cream and bacon martinis and even bras made out of bacon. Why not a cake topped with it?
That's the question that a reader of cakehead.com asks. Specifically, she asks what type of cake is the best to top with bacon. Yellow cake was too sweet, and carrot cake didn't quite work either. Click on the link to find out what cake tastes great with bacon, and then try it yourself.

I'll have to ponder this a bit, I am a firm believer in salty and sweet going beautifully together. It will be fun to try and find a cake recipe that marries well with bacon.

Bacon is always ok, even in things like vodka:

Maybe a peanut butter cake - it's already got a bit of a salty thing going on.

I don't know about the cake, but I once saw Alton Brown make frosting using an avocado instead of butter, and I can imagine that bacon would go well with an avocado covered cake.

www.cupcakeproject.com had an awesome Beer Cheddar Cupcake with Bacon Cream Cheese Icing... around Super Bowl time.
The icing was an awesome combination of salty and sweet. I would have eaten the icing by itself probably.
Yes, bacon CAN go with cake!
