Um, wow.
That mountain of colorful, sugary pancakes comes to you by the fine folks at IHOP, who have put together this concoction to celebrate the movie Horton Hears A Who, starring the voices of Jim Carrey and Steve Carell, that was released a few weeks ago.
This thing is just chock full of stuff that will make kids run around all day long, or maybe stay in bed with a tummy ache. Colored syrup, a lollipop shoved in the middle like the flag on top of a mountain top. And what are those, jelly beans or bubble gum pieces?
Has anyone tried this?

I've not tried it b/c I enjoy keeping my teeth for a long time, but we were at IHop this past week and witnessed many a young one eating it. Just about made me gag. They, however, seemed to love it. *shivers*

File that under the "obscene-but-oddly-compelling" category, right along with the Batter Blaster (http://www.slashfood.com/2007/10/30/point-and-blast-your-morning-waffles/)

YESYESYES. I actually just went to IHOP two days ago with my roommates. HAD to get them because a family with about 4 small children ALL had them! My one roommate also got this Horton Hears a Who inspired drink, a lime soda complete with red and blue jell-o cubes on the bottom!

Horton Hears a Who is such a good story and I like the fact that IHop got whimsical with it's food to celebrate the movie. I myself was bitten by the Horton Hears a Who movie bug and had a little fun on my blog as well.

wow...one bite and you're sick all day.
thank goodness there's not an ihop within 100 miles of us, or my daughter would be BEGGING me to let her have it once. She'd then take 2 bites and declare herself full lol

I've seen this now on a couple blogs, and while I can't imagine that I'd enjoy eating it... it really is a work of art! It's gorgeous! (...says the 5 yr old still living inside me!)
Naw really, this would have been the greatest thing when I was a little kid. Dr. Seuss stuff in real life? Awesome.
I still have no desire to try it. Just wanna look at it. :)

I AM diabetic. My glucose jumped 80 mg/Dl at first glance of that picture. I wouldn't dare touch that thing. First, I just can't eat that much at one sitting. Second, my diabetes team at the hospital would all take turns beating the crap out of me. Third, I want to live another day or twelve.

That looks like a nightmare. It is truly scary that this was created and tested by the iHOP think tank - and passed muster - before they let it loose. Yikes. I guess I have to consider who their audience is. I am no less scared, though.

I don't care what it would do to my sugar count. I WANT ONE! It's completely awesome! :-)

Ok, now, that is just disgusting.
It reminds me of Domino's Oreo Cookie Pizza.
What da hell do people think they will get from eating this and by golly, they even pay for it.
I'm in the wrong business.

my little brother had one when i took him to IHOP a little while ago, it wasn't that bad actually. he also got that 7-up with jello drink, and since he got the full breakfast, it came with a slice of ham and some eggs scrambled with spinach (green eggs and ham!). he actually ate the eggs/spinach and now asks me to supervise him making "green eggs" at home

What's the issue; why is this bringing out all the Negative Nancys?
Pancakes are always a carb-fest. You think this syrup is more sugary because it's pink and blue? Time to take a peek at the back of syrup bottle. I've never seen a kid have pancakes at IHOP -without- chocolate chips on it. And those highly processed fruit syrups are hardly any better.
I'm on the side of the fence that says these look like fun, and thanks IHOP for your cute Dr Suess Pancakes. And Mmm those green eggs sound delicious. Shows they can make fun food that's also healthy.

My kids have had the Horton pancakes a couple of times. They split an order between them. It's a big stack of pancakes. I doubt this syrup is any worse for them than regular pancake syrups. Mine don't eat the candy pieces so I have no thoughts on them. Just like cake at birthday parties, an occasional sugar fest is no big deal.
They've had the Green Eggs & Ham a couple times too & like the eggs enough hey have asked me to make them at home.
You want something really bad for you at IHOP? get the Bacon Cheeseburger with Egg.
We had an IHOP open in town about 2 months ago. Everyone I meet for lunch or dinner wants to 'try it out'. It's an IHOP. It's just like every other IHOP. What's there to try out?

Saw it at Ihop this last week too, and they said here it was about to drop off the menu. The waitress told us that the drink was more popular with adults than the kids, and the kids couldn't get enough of the pancakes. They have that "fun" eye appeal that draws them in.

The candy is those candy-coated mini kisses. The pancakes were not *that* bad, if a little dry because you don't get the butter and real syrup to wet them. The colored stuff is closer to thin frosting.
That being said, I can't see it being that much worse than a bowl of Fruity Pebbles.

My husband had to try these, and since he was making me eat at IHOP, which I'm never thrilled to do, I made him have the full-up Horton experience...here's the pictures of his meal: http://poodlevania.blogspot.com/2008/03/who-cakes.html
And, he promptly crashed in the car, and I had to drive him home.
